Keith Melbourne has been a Country Music Broadcaster for most of his adult life, and had the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Australian Country Music Broadcasters Hall of Fame by the Australian Country Music Federation in 1999.
He is well known throughout the Country Music Industry both in Australia and overseas. He is currently General Manager of Radio Station 107.3 fm in Albury, Australia. Keith also hosts a National Weekly Country Music Radio program which has been running for 5 years. The program features traditional and contempory country together with interviews and trivia, and tells in story and song, the history of American and Australian country music, as well as other countries, and the program is aptly titled "Country Roots" You can contact Keith by Email.
Country Roots is broadcast on the CBAA'a Satellite service across Australia each Tuesday at 11.04 am and is available to Community Radio Stations. In 1992 Keith Melbourne discovered the Chambers Family busking on the streets in Australia's Country Music Capital, Tamworth during the annual Country Music Awards weekend. The group were known as The Dead Ringer Band, and consisted of Bill(father) Diane(mother) Nash (son)and daughter Kasey Chambers, now International Country Music Star. Keith managed the group for 2 years and secured their first recording contract with the Larrikin Label and of course the rest is history.
Keith was among a select few to be issued with an International Press Accreditation by Americas CMA (Country Music Association) in 1990. This gave broadcasters the opportunity to gain backstage access to most of the big name shows during the annual Fanfair.
Keith has also managed and worked alongside some of the biggest names in Country Music including Ray Kernaghan, Tex Morton, and RCA recording artist, the late Buddy Williams. He was a long time associate of Slim Dusty. Slim made regular visits to chat on Keith.s radio program. He has judged at many talent quests throughout Australia, and been guest compere at Country Music Festivals, from the larger towns through to the remote outback areas of Australia, including the Hermansburg Aboriginal Mission in Central Australia.
