A little about me…….I was born at Wauchope in NSW, but for varying amounts of time I have lived at Murwillumbah, Narrabri, Wee Waa, Singleton and back to Wauchope between most of these stays.

I have always loved music, some of my earliest memories were of my uncle (who we used to live with, on his farm) and my older brother, sitting round the fire after tea, playing the violin & the guitar respectively, and also the wind-up gramophone and the stacks of 78s that my brother had. I was allowed to play the records….and I did…..but as time wore on and the needles were getting harder to buy, I found myself getting into a certain amount of trouble for using too many of them. I think I was about 12 when I got my very own record player and started my collection of 45s. Wherever I have lived I have always had my records/cds with me.

I joined the local Country Music Club back in 1982, was silly enough to be talked into having a few goes on stage in the charity concerts they organised, but realised that I wasn’t comfortable enough to be “up there” so just went along to enjoy the music and friendships.

Eventually I met up with and got to know some of the independent artists and decided that I had small ways of helping them to get more recognition and therefore exposure…. so I spent some time observing the backgrounds of the industry and the politics of it all and set out turn my talents towards helping the independents.

I have also done quite a bit of travelling, and in the process of that I have had the opportunity to “see how the other half live” and to promote country music and the artists.

By nature I am a shy person, but in 2005 I decided that I could help “my independents” more if I became a presenter, so I did my presenter’s course at 2 Way FM 103.9 and the first program I found myself with was Sunday Breakfast, but then there was a vacancy in the Friday Country time slot, so I now do Joy’s Country Jukebox from 12.00 midday to 2.00pm on Friday. I have been gathering many faithful listeners along the way.

Another “pet” hobby that I have is computers, and I became aware that I could help even more if I had my own webpage and this site is the result. I hope it helps to do what it was originally intended to do.
