My Bio
Some have described Ann Pascoe as the one of the best country singers currently within the New Zealand shores. She is certainly an authentic country girl who was born on a back country sheep farm, milked cows after her marriage, and raised five children.
Ann's lastest album "I'm Doing Fine" is due to be released here in NZ by the Rajon Music Group, and she is excited to have that happen.
The ability of country music to tell a story, which can be set to pretty melody is what appeals to the musician side of Ann. Slow country songs seem to lend themselves to beautiful chords and sweet melody. While faster songs can become upbeat and can really rock! She can see the beauty in all country music - traditional too - but realises country rock/pop has pushed the genre in front of the public thanks to artists like Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks - which is a good thing.
Ann is exposed to a huge range of country music through her work with The Little Country Radio stations (NZ Country Music Network Ltd.) At least six to eight CDs appear in her mailbox each week from independent artists wanting airplay: "I hear some really good music and have some good contacts." The independent artists' world is almost a huge "community" industry of its own.
"Our stations are low power FM; computerised and each one is independent of the others, but has the same music to play. They are cleverly programmed to sound live with our recorded voice promotions, lead in/lead outs and time checks!
"I programme and edit all the music that comes in, and we add some 200+ new tracks each month on average - sometimes twice a month from artists who keep sending us their albums."
