Multi Award Winning Australian Country Music Artist Adam Harvey Set To Release The ‘Best So Far’ In August

In August, multi award winning Australian Country Music artist Adam Harvey will release Best So Far, a collection of his favourite tracks spanning his career, plus two new songs. Adam will also release a DVD

Adam Harvey

in August, entitled Best So Far, which will include many of his currently unavailable music videos, a brand new video for his new song Better Than This, as well as interview footage with longtime producer Rod McCormack and a candid documentary of Adam throughout his career.

Australian Country Music crooner Adam Harvey won his first Golden Guitar with Tanya Self in 1998. In a career spanning more than a decade, Adam has gone from strength to strength, winning seven Golden Guitars, receiving the Global Artist Award in Nashville, and being invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry Ryman Auditorium

Adam Harvey began his affair with Country Music at the tender age of ten when he entered the ‘On Parade’ competition in Tamworth. After a rousing performance the assembled audience demanded an encore; without another song in his repertoire he played the same song again! A long time fan of Johnny Cash, Adam has had some clear influences to his musical career. His brand new single; Better Than This, released to Australian radio today, Adam wrote specially for this album; “I have the best job in the world, and I’m very grateful – its just doesn’t get any better than this!”

After Adam’s Golden Guitar win in 1998 with Tanya Self for Drive Away, he went on to record his first album Sugar Talk with producer Joe Camilleri. Adam really ‘arrived’ on the Australian Country Music scene when he released his second album with producer Rod McCormack Workin’ Overtime which won Adam his first Golden Guitar for coveted ‘Album of the Year’, as well as ‘Male Vocalist of the Year’ (an award he went on to win twice more). Cowboy Dreams Adam’s third album was nominated for an ARIA Award and was certified with a Gold ARIA Accreditation, as was his fourth album Can’t Settle For Less.  Adam walked away with his seventh Golden Guitar in 2008, again for ‘Album of the Year’ for his fifth album; I’m Doin’ Alright. In 2009 Adam released Both Sides Now; a duets album that he wanted to record as a ‘celebration’ of Country Music, inviting the cream of Australian artists to join him.

The Best So Far album and DVD not only encapsulates Adam’s long and impressive career, but also will give fans the opportunity to listen to some of Adam’s earliest recordings which only available on this package.

The Rematch - Beccy Cole & Adam Harvey Together…
You Have Been Warned!

Adam Harvey & Beccy Cole

Thursday 5th - Warrnambool Regional Performing Arts Centre - Tix: 03 5559 4885
Friday 6th - Ballarat - Her Majesty's Theatre - Tix: 03 5333 5800
Saturday 7th - Corowa RSL Club - Auditorium - Tix: 6030 5000
Sunday 8th - Shepparton - Eastbank Centre - Tix: 03 5832 9511

Beccy Cole and Adam Harvey are two of the most recognised names in Australian country music and together are as much a comedy act as a musical one!  Now the hilarious duo are presenting a show aptly named ‘The Rematch’. After touring together in 2006 to rapturous applause, belly laughs coupled with audience and critical acclaim, they’re back once again sharing the stage to challenge each other.

Both are celebrated songwriters, both are multi-award winning recording artists and both are notorious, as Adam Harvey puts it, “s##t-stirrers”.

Comedy aside, let’s not forget, they are musicians. Serious musicians. Whilst they will have the audience in tears of laughter, Cole and Harvey are experts in their chosen field. Boasting the strongest voices in country music teamed with stirring songwriting and infectious melodies has made them two of the most sought after entertainers in Australia.

Between them that have acquired an impressive 14 Golden Guitar Awards, 6 GOLD Records and a string of number one hits to name but a few of their accolades.

This coupled with their very real delivery of friendship and non-stop gags makes The Rematch a must see show for the young, old, drunk, sober and without question insane. In fact, Cole and Harvey blatantly have opened the doors to one and all, “This show is for everyone, if there is one person who comes along who does not laugh at least three times then I want to know what level of Prozac they’re on”, laughed Cole.

From traditional favourites through to heartbreakers, skewed observations and their own hits The Rematch is a musical feast of two sensational artists delivering duets, banter and an unforgettable night of entertainment!

Both hold each other in high esteem which translates to the stage with an obvious affection and mutual admiration for each other’s style, song and performance as they entertain each other as well as the audience. Adam Harvey cites Beccy Cole as his favourite female performer”. The best entertainer in the country” says Adam of Beccy, but the feeling is reciprocated… “Nobody can own the crowd like Adam Harvey, he amazes me every night” says Beccy of Adam.

Nicknaming the tour ‘The Rematch’,” Beccy and Adam blame the title on their long-term friendly rivalry. “Some nights he'll come off stage and the crowd is going nuts, he'll wink and wish me luck following him!” laughs Beccy “But there'll be nights that I'll edge him just a little, to his credit he'll shake my hand and congratulate me on my win!”

The Rematch is on the road with Beccy Cole & Adam Harvey, don’t miss this laugh out loud musical experience!

"With her foot firmly on the metal, Jayne Denham delivers a highly charged diesel-driven country rock anthem, giving just recognition to Australia's truck driving women.

Big trucks, hard working women and the Australian landscape - Jayne Denham's 'Trucker Chicks' delivers all three in one hard-hitting burst of country rock excellence."

Hank Williams III :: Rebel Within
In an era of plastic, manufactured music, it is always refreshing when someone goes against the grain and does what they want to do. Hank Williams III is the best example of this in music today. For over twelve years now Shelton Hank Williams III has been fighting the music industry to be his own man. Cast by certain people in the shadow of his legendary grandfather, Williams has fought long and hard to create his own sound and style, and to preserve the true outlaw spirit of real country music. His ever-evolving three hour live shows pay respects to both his country roots, and the punk and metal influences that he has held true to since his teens.

Spotlight Artist - Shawn Camp

Darrell DeShawn "Shawn" Camp (born August 29, 1966 in Perryville, Arkansas) is an American musician who performs country and Americana music. Originally signed to Reprise Records in 1993 as a recording artist, Camp charted two minor singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts that year. Since then, he has found success as a songwriter, having co-written hit singles for many country music artists, including Garth Brooks, Josh Turner, Brooks & Dunn, and Blake Shelton, although he continues to record his own material as well.

Shawn Camp

Camp was raised in Perryville, Arkansas by a musical family. In 1987, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee and worked in the backing bands of such acts as the Osborne Brothers, Alan Jackson, Suzy Bogguss and Trisha Yearwood. In 1991, he was signed to Reprise Records, with two minor Top 40 singles charting in 1993. He later left the label over creative differences, but continued to write songs for other artists. Camp's first Number One as a songwriter came in early 1998, when Garth Brooks reached the top of the Billboard country charts with "Two Piña Coladas", a song co-written by Camp. Later that same year, Brooks & Dunn also reached Number One with "How Long Gone", another Camp co-write.

Camp released a second album, titled Lucky Silver Dollar, in 2001. In 2006, he was nominated as Songwriter of the Year by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music; also, Billboard ranked him #10 on their 2006 list of Hot Country Songwriters. The same year, two songs co-written by Camp entered the country charts: "Nobody But Me" by Blake Shelton, and "Would You Go with Me" by Josh Turner, which peaked at No. 4 and No. 1, respectively, on the Billboard U.S. Hot Country Songs charts. Camp also co-wrote Turner's 2007 single "Firecracker" and George Strait's 2008 single "River of Love".

Nothing Before The "But"

I mentioned the other day how my wife doesn't listen to the words you put together... She just hears what you really mean. She gets vibes.
Being a lifelong entertainer, she knows Body English. She reads your gestures and expressions.

If you avoid eye contact when talking to her, her radar sends up a red flag.

Being a more logical person, I've always been fascinated by her intuitive slant on things.

Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan

Her strong opinions are based mostly on feelings... a sort of ESP. I didn't take these seriously in the beginning, but I began to notice that she was right at least as much as I was, maybe more.

She seems to take mental shortcuts, bypassing conventional linear thought, but arriving at the correct destination ahead of you.

Her music is like that. She can read a little music but will not follow the written notes, and will never play a song the same way twice. She improvises on the spot, from feelings, or some inner computer not yet discovered by science.

People are often surprised to find that she never acts "cool". She is wide open, friendly, and has a tendency to over talk a little, giving away too much of herself. This makes her vulnerable, and easily hurt or angered. I don't know if I should let her read this.

The opposite of me, she lives in the present a lot, and observes everything... Opposites do attract.

We aren’t complete opposites. We have our music in common, and we're both very emotional, especially in the presence of good stories or music. We've even been known to cry at the end of Walker, Texas Ranger. Now that's ridiculous.

I've learned over the years not to try to hide a criticism inside a joke, or cushion a negative remark with things like this: "I think you're doing a wonderful job, but..."

Misty never hears anything before the "but".

The Good Doctor

This is about an unusual doctor... maybe now, a former doctor. I’m calling him Doc Barnes because that’s not his name. He has enough problems.

We met him through some friends when we had a medium emergency.

His office was a humble wooden building, with old Florida jalousie windows, and a coat of faded yellow paint.

The office was fairly crowded with folks who didn’t look like they had money to pay.
When we finally got to see the doctor we were a little worried because he looked more like a veterinarian, or a farmer, or maybe a rancher, in his faded jeans and plaid flannel shirt.
He joked around a lot, but he took care of our problem and didn’t overcharge us.

We later got to know him a little and went to his home, which was a little building behind his office. Inside, the décor was pure Star Trek. Doc was a Trekkie.

As we talked I began to see that he was not like other physicians. He made house calls every evening, and he phoned patients on his own to see how they were coming along. He bowled instead of playing golf, and he didn’t socialize with other doctors, which may have been his downfall.

He was trying to help his ex-wife, who was hooked on drugs. He still loved her and hoped to see her drug free and reunited with him. She was a sweet, pretty woman, but way too skinny. I don’t know how her problem got started.

She seemed to be off the drugs and asked him for a job as receptionist in his practice. As I said, he loved her, so she got the job. I believe they were both really trying.

Drugs became missing from his place and there was an investigation. He didn’t turn his wife in,
and he put up no defense. He took the rap, and his practice was closed down.

Later, we heard from friends that he was working in a walk-in clinic south of town.

The next time we saw him was on Channel 9 TV. They were doing one of their exposés to boost their ratings.

The investigating team had found that some of the medicines being dispensed were outdated.
Remember, Doc Barnes did not own this clinic. He was just working there, and probably assumed that all the medications were OK because his had always been.

The slimy TV reporter stuck the mike in Doc’s face and growled, “Using outdated medicines,
what kind of a doctor are you?”

Doctor Barnes kept right on tending to a patient, and said, “The best.”

They closed down the clinic, and we’ve lost track of our friend.

He cared about people, and he gave them all the help and medicine they needed, without worrying about covering his own backside.

We have a friend across the street who has advanced cancer. His doctors won’t give him enough painkiller to stop a toothache. Are they afraid he’ll get addicted, or are they just covering their butts?
I wish our neighbor had Doc Barnes. He’s “The Best”.

Shock Release The Double Platinum-Selling Breakthrough Album By 2010 ‘Best New Artist’ Grammy Winners, The Zac Brown Band

‘The Foundation’ - steeped in “Soul and Freewheeling Tales” (Billboard) - was out on Friday.

After one Grammy, five smash singles and over 2 million album sales in the States, Atlanta, Georgia’s Zac Brown Band finally see its breakthrough album ‘The Foundation’ released in Australia and New Zealand through Shock Entertainment today.

After an eventful year on the charts and on the road, the Zac Brown Band has proven that "overnight success" can be years in the making. New fans drawn by the irresistible hit singles, the awe-inspiring musicianship and dynamic live shows might have thought the Zac Brown Band emerged from nowhere; in fact, the band has paid its dues for years and put in its time for just this moment. It may have happened quickly, but it's definitely built to last.  And now, following numerous honors and accolades, including their GRAMMY win for "Best New Artist" and "Top New Vocal Group" from the Academy of Country Music Awards - Zac and band have their sights set down under.

Having travelled down under some years back, Australia has a special place in Zac’s heart. Indeed the band’s latest American hit and next Australian single ‘Free’, was written in Northern NSW.

"Australia is beyond special to me from my time travelling there, “ Zac says. “There is so much feeling from there in our songs and the writing. ‘Free’ was written sitting at the top of Mount Warning in the morning sunrise. As the sun came up, it first hit the top of our heads and granted a feeling of peacefulness that I cherish to this day. I can see the release of that single aligning perfectly with our intentions to tour Down Under - it's just meant to be. We are proud to be introduced to Australia as a band and look forward to bringing some Southern hospitality to reciprocate the generosity that the country has given to us."

The past year has been dizzying for the hardworking act. ‘The Foundation’ was released on November 18, 2008 on Atlantic Records and debuted at #17 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and #3 on the Top Country Albums Chart. Phenomenally, 83 weeks later, it this week sits at #12 in the Top 200, and #2 on the Country chart. Which, Brown says, means that he’s finally achieved what had been more than a decade in the making.

“There’s no way to predict how fast everything is going to come together,” adds the down-to-earth Georgian. “Or that it took 13 years to get to the beginning of it.”
While the band strongly identifies with country music and country radio and, of course, continues to have great success there, it’s not an easily pigeonholed crowd; while loyal country fans show up in droves, the band also appeals to lovers of bluegrass, jam bands, reggae and seemingly everyone in between.

In fact, the Zac Brown Band’s rehearsal space provides strong clues that the unit puts no artificial limits on itself. While one wall sports a whiteboard chock full of upcoming coast-to-coast tour dates, the other is graffitied with hundreds of song titles—sharing space on a wall that also includes a Bob Marley banner and a framed portrait of Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. “Everything has to do with the song,” Brown observes. “Every song is born and wants to go its own direction. When audiences hear a new song for the first time, if at the end of it they’re going crazy and cheering, you know you’ve pulled it off.”

Brown recently launched his Southern Ground record label and signed three local Atlanta based artists. He is also is launching a line of steak rubs and barbecue sauces under the Southern Ground label, and preparing the release of his first cookbook; projects which have their roots in Zac’s Place, a lakeside restaurant he used to co-own and run. As if all this weren’t enough, Brown is developing a charitable foundation to run a children’s camp (lending even more resonance to the title, ‘The Foundation’), which recently began clearing land for its planned site. Despite all the irons in the fire, Brown nonetheless calls his foundation and camp plans his “life’s work.” “Having the camp and giving back is important for me,” he says. “I’m very blessed to have what I have, and I know a lot of that’s on credit for what I do down the road. It’s very important for me to keep that in mind. I want to leave something behind that does some good after I’m gone.”

Shock will follow 'The Foundation' with the release of the band's new live 2CD + DVD set 'Pass The Jar', in September.
