I hope the people that are supposed to promote Country Music don't continue to promote Rock artists during our country music festival , otherwise i think they may notice some changes, take all the caravans out of Tamworth and see what is left. They need to concentrate their surveys on the people that matter,
the real country music fans on the ground when they are in Tamworth not when they leave, everyone needs to take a long hard look at what is happening in Tamworth the ones up the top think they know the answers, we will keep singing our song and try and keep what our pioneers started The Tamworth Country Music Festival know there are thousands out there that support our view.
After Tamworth we travelled to Yass and played at Tumut, Yass and Goulburn, thanks to Brian Annetts and John Goode and Wally and his lovely wife at Tumut and the RSL Club, and all their helpers because they arrange all the shows for us, thanks to Bec and Billy who shared our camp at Tamworth and Bungendore, a great mate and thank you Sharon and Bec for all your bass playing and help.

Dianne Lindsay Enjoying The Success Of Her Latest Album ‘Heartbeat Of Australia’
Dianne is overwhelmed with the success of her recently released album ‘Heartbeat of Australia’. Recorded on the Central Coast with producer Rod McCormack, the album is a collection of all-Australian songs, ballads old and new, gospel and stories of people and places. Dianne has |
 |
written/co-written eight of the tracks on the album and delivers them in her own unique country style.
The album has already won her a swag of awards. Female vocal in the Gold Medallion/WARP Awards held in Tamworth and in the Qld Gidgee Coal Bush Ballad Awards, along with a vocal collaboration. Last weekend, at the prestigious Bungendore Country Muster, Dianne received female vocal of the year and vocal collaboration with cousin, Anne Kirkpatrick. Three songs from the album were in finalist placing at the TSA Awards in Tamworth.
To add to this list of success, the duet ‘Country All The Way’ with her late father Reg Lindsay has proved a great inclusion to the album and was in the top 30 of the country charts for 16 weeks.
Working tirelessly with many shows and festivals throughout Australia, Dianne has rapidly become a household name in today’s country music scene with many interstate trips and tours organized for this year.
Closer to home, Dianne will next month appear at The Entrance Country Music Festival at The Entrance Theatre on Saturday 13th at 10am.
Living out her life-long dreams, Dianne’s home base is on the Central Coast along with her husband, guitarist Peter Simpson.

Tracy Coster is‘ Not Forty‘
“...I know that I‘m younger than I‘m supposed to be, I‘m not Forty, that‘s not me”!
Getting a little older also means we get a little wiser, Tracy Coster must be a very wise lady, because she knows that 40 is the new 20. Tracy‘s
|

|
new single, Not Forty embraces and celebrates the gaining of years with charming, up-beat and humorous observation.
Since releasing her album, Moving On over a year ago, Tracy has presented us with tracks for radio that define her journey as an artist and musician, honouring her past as Stan Coster‘s daughter, while stepping into the future with songs that interpret who she is, an artist in her own right and Not Forty fits snug into this pocket.
While last year‘s award nominations including, Australian Independent Heritage Track Of The Year for Traditional Heritage and the CMAA Country Music Award for Bush Ballad Of The Year Award have been recognition for her talent, it‘s the touring and fans that keep the dream alive for Tracy, being on the road, playing Australian towns and regional centres is where she wins the hearts of fans.
Not Forty is sure to win a few different hearts, with requests for the song coming in from unexpected places. Written by her album producer and songwriter, Roger Corbett, Not Forty is relevant and contemporary and suits Tracy‘s Moving On approach.
Stay tuned for news on the fun film clip coming to CMC.

Ann Pascoe Newsletter
Hello again, we wish you all the best for the New Year. Here is it, February already! Grab a coffee and read what Ann's been up to!
Ann's year got off to a busy start with festivals - The Festival of Lights was another fine summer's evening on Thursday 14th January and Ann, Allan Webster and OLDOGS gathered a good crowd of around 300 on the Hatchery Lawn.
A visit from popular German country artist, Hermann Lammer's Meyer on his way to the Marton Festival meant getting him up on stage with
|
 |
Ann and OLDOGS which was an introduction to Hermann who was appearing at the Hatchery Lawn on the following Monday evening.
On the 15th January, Ann, Allan and OLDOGS, Mark Corbett, Noddy Curd, Kevin Joyce, Charlie Winter and Joe Martin rocked it up at the RSA in New Plymouth and presented a 'Five Dog Night' evening of good music and dancing! An active crowd enjoyed the music. OLDOGS was a five piece band with Joe Martin helping out on steel.
On the 16/17th of January Ann and OLDOGS, and Allan and Maureen Webster (who had been staying with the Pascoes) headed to the Marton Festival which once again was a great success. While the weather wasn't the best for the outdoors, the head count was up on other years, and the audience was able to shelter in the two huge marquees.
Well done Anne George, for your skill and tireless work to get the Marton Festival underway for another year. This festival is growing in popularity and has a waiting list of NZ and overseas artists wanting to be included.
OLDOGS was the backing band for the afternoon show and Ann joined them in the afternoon and presented a couple of songs. The Wanganui Chronicle gave good photo coverage of the festival, and Ann got her photo in the paper.
From Marton, it was home again to Taranaki and off to the Festival Of Lights on the 18th of January when Trevor Stevens and Hermann Lammers Meyer shared the stage. Ann was invited up by both singers to combine in a duet with each of them. The guys had a huge crowd for a Monday night.
Not much chance to rest up before it was 'on the road again', this time to Hastings where I had organised a gig for Ann, and Hermann at the Hastings Hibernian Club on Thursday the 21st of January. We had a busy and very pleasant day with Ann and her support team, Frank & Jocelyn calling in for a cuppa after their long drive from Taranaki. Great to see them again.
After Ann and her crew left, I had a call from Robert Dew, (TLC Radio founder and tour guide) asking me to put the jug on, he was just coming in to Napier with Hermann, (A long trip from Raglan). We met Hermann and had another 'cuppa'.
I was pleased to see members of various Country Music Clubs from Napier and Hastings there in support of the show, but also it was pleasing to see members of the general public there, too. It was a 7.30pm start and Hermann and Ann had the receptive crowd going from the very start.
Big thanks must go to Dave Jones at the Hibernian and his staff for hosting this event, providing a supper and doing wonderful pre-show promotion. And feeding the travelling team so well.
Friday morning, the whole crew called in to have another 'cuppa' before heading off for Auckland where Ann and Hermann were to appear at the Victoria Park Market on Saturday at noon. Hermann called it a Marton Festival Reunion because Trevor Stevens and Kylie Austin, both of whom had been at the Marton Festival and Allan and Maureen Webster all turned up at the Park. They did a stint on stage with Hermann and Ann, too.
Ann said it was also great to meet in person, Paul van Beurden who wrote the honky tonk piano style song "We're Through" she recorded, and to meet his wife Christine, too.
Then it was on to an evening show at the Sail Rock Cafe, Mangawhai further on up the road north. More great food and comfortable accommodation provided.
Sunday and it was across to the 'Funky Fish Cafe' at Bayley’s Beach, Dargaville. Thank you to Sonny and Carol Franklin (TLC Radio Northland) for organising the gig for Hermann and Ann. And thank you to Phil Godfrey, Big River fm for hosting all the travelling team at his comfortable residence.
Monday was a travelling day to show Hermann the sights - the Kauri forest, and Hokianga Harbour which was absolutely beautiful on a perfect summer's day. Back home in Germany, Hermann's family was shovelling snow. While Hermann was determined to get a Kiwi tan!
Manuka Studios was the place to be on Tuesday, and with Mike McCarthy in charge, Hermann and Ann recorded three duets. One of them, "Foggy Mountain Top" is being released with Hillcrest in March and will be sent round many country music radio stations, and receive good exposure.
(Both Ann and Hermann having both released (separately) on Hillcrest recently are having great exposure on the ECMA and the Joyce Ramgatie charts at this time!)
On Wednesday 27th it was time for Ann, Robert, Jocelyn and Frank to say farewell to Hermann and put him on a plane back home. It was a sad time. He was to endure 26 hours of flying, and another three hours on a train to get back to his snow covered homeland. But he survived it - and says that he will be back! And we look forward to that. Hermann was popular with everyone he met - an all round good bloke!
It's probably best summed up by a piece Allan Webster wrote on meeting Hermann.
Over the years as a country music artist I have had the privilege of meeting many other artists, but I can’t remember meeting anyone quite like Hermann.
I found him to be an inspirational entertainer with a very interesting background in the field of music. Hermann was liked by all he met in New Zealand and I am sure he has left them with lasting memories, and especially for me, his "after show performances".
A hot chocolate will never taste the same again. (In-house joke!) There is no doubt he will be welcomed back to New Zealand, and I only hope that I can meet up with him again one day. (And so say all of us! Ed.)
Allan Webster. (Australia)
www.allanwebster.wordpress.com
A huge thank you must go to Robert Dew and Freewheeling NZ who took Hermann around New Zealand for three whole weeks and who in the last week, drove the whole team around in his comfortable tour bus. Thanks, Robert - Ann says it was relaxing and a pleasure to travel with you.

Applications Open for Academy Debut
Thursday 4th February 2010: THE CMAA AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC IS THE
ONLY INSTITUTION OF ITS KIND IN THE WORLD AND IS SET TO EDUCATE, SKILL AND EQUIP THE
STARS OF TOMORROW WITH ITS JUNE 2010 DEBUT DELIVERY.
With applications now open for aspiring singers, songwriters and players until the end of
February, the Country Music Association of Australia (CMAA) is looking forward to
observing the development of the successful applicants over the two week intensive
program.
“The success of the Camerata and College programs continues to be seen with awards
presented, album sales and sell-out tours by past graduates. The Academy of Country
Music will provide a greater curriculum and resources than ever before, giving us great
hope that new graduates will become the new industry leaders within country music”,
said Ms Cheryl Hayes, CMAA General Manager.
Applications can be made online at www.country.com.au.
The Academy is a merge of previous proven programs, the ‘Camerata School for Young
People’ and the ‘CMAA College of Country Music’. Past graduates of the programs
include Sara Storer (record holder for most Golden Guitars won in one year), the Sunny
Cowgirls (signed by Adam Brand to Compass Bros records) and Lou Bradley (signed by
Joy McKean, Slim Dusty’s widow) to name but a few of the successful past graduates.
The formation has attracted some of the industry’s most recognised and successful
players as tutors, guest speakers and presenters.
Confirmed staff of the 2010 CMAA Australian Academy of Country Music includes artists
such as country music pioneer TED EGAN, FELICITY URQUHART, GINA JEFFREYS, JIM
HAYNES, TAMARA STEWART, DAVID CARTER, LYN BOWTELL, ROGER CORBETT and AMBER
LAWRENCE giving insight into performance, songwriting, vocal delivery and the real
world of a working artist in a competitive industry.
These recognised names will be complemented by the best “behind the scenes” and
technically trained industry professionals such as record producers ROD McCORMACK
and HERM KOVAC, musicians ROD MOTBEY, DOUG GALLACHER, IAN LEES, BRAD BERGEN,
DUNCAN TOOMBS, SEAN RUDD, SOFIE SPENCER and PETER COOPER to name but a few.
The CMAA Australian Academy of Country Music will still deliver two targeted courses
made up of tailored syllabuses, a junior one specifically designed for applicants between
13-18years old in which a parent or guardian must also attend the program to also be
educated on the industry and the senior course for applicants between 18-35 years of
age.
Whilst the program will primarily concentrate on the country music genre, the Academy
of Country Music will also encourage students to expand into areas of new country and
crossover styles of music that will be attractive to new and expanding audience bases.
To mark the inaugural CMAA Australian Academy of Country Music, the directors are for
the first time offering a special streaming program for aspiring musicians who intend to
become instrumental specialists.
Applicants for this new instrument strand will be expected to demonstrate a high level of
skill on their chosen instrument and experience working in a full band context. While they
will not be expected to sight read notated music, they will be taught to follow detailed
chord charts and will be schooled in the use of the international numbering system.
The 2010 CMAA Australian Academy of Country Music will culminate with an end of
course Graduation Concert, unveiling and showcasing the newly educated students
and featuring some special guest industry stars.
With applications closing on February 28th 2010, the directors recommend potential
students submit their application before it is too late.

Trucker Chick Jayne's A Real Prime Mover

Country rock chick Jayne Denham is well known for her admiration of the men and women of the trucking world and it seems the feeling is mutual.
Several of her songs have caught the attention of one of Australia's largest trucking companies, Wickham Freight Lines, and the group has offered her a sponsorship deal.
It will see her face travelling around the country on the side of a refridgerated van.
And the rig will more than likely make an appearance at several of her shows throughout the year.
''Truck drivers keep this country moving and we would not be where we are as a country without them,'' Jayne said.
''Go the truckies and companies like Wickham’s who work so hard to achieve so much.''
Jayne's song 'Cousin Jude' , about a female semi trailer driver, from her debut album, 'Sudden Change In Weather,' was embraced by the trucking fraternity and led to her appearing at truck shows all around the country. She has even performed for Wickham's staff at two of their Christmas Parties.
Jayne's latest album, 'Shake This Town', includes similar trucker tributes in the shape of
'Road Train Fever' and 'Trucker Chicks', the latter which is set to be released as a single later this month.
Wickham Freight Lines is a family owned and operated business with its head office in Warwick, Queensland and terminals in Glen Innes, Sydney and Melbourne.
The Company has more than 40 years experience in the transport industry, providing daily services between Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Warwick. It specialises in refrigerated meat and produce transport and has a fleet of over 100 late model Kenworth prime movers, and 200 refrigerated pantecs.

Trace Adkins' Tour Bus Involved in Fatal Crash
A pickup crashed head-on into a tour bus carrying the band of country music singer Trace Adkins in north Caddo Parish on Saturday, killing two men in the truck and injuring five band members.
Adkins, a native of Webster Parish, is scheduled to perform a concert with Martina McBride Saturday night at CenturyTel. According to a spokesperson for the CenturyTel, Adkins has decided to go on with the show. Officials say he will perform a solo acoustic set.
Adkins was not on the bus. He was already in Bossier City.
None of the band members’ injuries is believed to be serious, Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said.
One band member required stitches, another was taken to the hospital in Vivian for observation and three others were walking around, Prator said. Four others on the tour bus were not hurt, Prator said.
Adkins went to the accident scene in a van, picked up the uninjured members of his band and went to the hospital in Vivian to check on the others.
“He was extremely concerned, as you might expect,” Prator said of Adkins. “He was comforting the band members. He helped them load their luggage and then headed to the hospital.”
The accident happened at 9:30 a.m. on U.S. 71, four miles south of Ida in far north Caddo Parish.
Prator said the pickup had been swerving before it crossed the center line and hit the tour bus. Both men in the pickup were apparently killed on impact, Prator said. Deputies were interviewing witnesses and trying to determine why the pickup was swerving. Marty Matell |
Wanda Jackson Overcomes Blizzard To Play New York Gig
"We love you, Wanda!" a young woman shouted plaintively from the back of the packed room at Thursday night's Wanda Jackson show at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, N.Y. The 72 year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer smiled, a bit surprised and moved at the same time. In a flash, the moment was gone as she and the Lustre Kings kicked into high gear with 'Funnel of Love,' a song she recorded in 2003 with the Cramps. The mostly young 20 and 30-something crowd roared like it |

was 1959.
A lot of music history has passed under the bridge since Jackson first started wowing audiences back in the '50s. Rock 'n' roll has gone from teen party music to art house respectability and back again. It's gone from recording on analog tape machines the size of a small car to digital hard drives that fit in your hand, and from 45s to cassingles to iTunes. The irony wasn't lost on Jackson, who took the time to search out one of her new 7" vinyl singles -- recently released on Jack White's Third Man Records -- from a front-row fan and hold it up for all to see in a moment of well-earned pride and humble amazement.
Again and again, the audience showed their love and respect for the Queen of Rockabilly as she moved through her greatest hits. 'Hard-Headed Woman,' 'Fujiyama Mama' and 'Let's Have a Party' were all greeted with dancing and word-for-word sing-alongs from the assembled. But, it was 'Riot in Cell Block 9' that tore the roof off, making it abundantly clear why "this music," as she calls it, means so much to so many -- it's a lot of fun. And, to think, this particular show almost didn't happen.
Due to the Blizzard of 2010, Jackson arrived at the Knitting Factory a good hour and a half past the scheduled show start. She went straight from the airport to the stage without a rehearsal and nary a hello to the band. While waiting, the Albany-based Lustre Kings kept the house rocking and assured everyone that Jackson was indeed on her way. The anticipation was palpable. By the time Jackson walked onstage in her red sequined outfit, it was as conquering hero and rock 'n' roll legend.
Near the end of the show, Jackson looked out at the longtime fans and the newly-acquired ones, the curious and the doubtful, and said, "I"m doing what I love. I'm very lucky." As are we, for being there when you do what you love, Wanda.
