Keith Has Been Busy Writing Again.
''A Fair Go''
''And promises''
Keith Jamieson June 2008 |
 |
The old folk are struggling
No one gives a damm
They fought and they worked
And they're proud of this land
They built us our roads
Through the scrub and the sand
They're our pioneer people
With a true Aussie brand
They fought for Australia
So we could be free
Now I can't believe mate
The things that I see
Like a song from old Coster
'Bout an old Gidgee tree
The old folk are suffering
In vast poverty.
Chorus
So come on Australia let’s give them a hand
With a true Aussie spirit that’s part of our land
Let the people in power hang their heads in shame
For a fair go and promises that never came
They say that the pension
Is an old persons dream
But the people in power
Should start to come clean
Old folk paid their taxes
And worked all those years
In helping Australia
Through different careers
They say that our old folk
Get an adequate pay
To make all commitments
Buy tucker each day
Now the people in power
Would never survive
On an old persons pension
For a week if they tried
Chorus
So come on Australia let’s give them a hand
With a true Aussie spirit that’s part of our land
Let the people in power hang their heads in shame
For a fair go and promises that never came

Spotlight On Heather Myles
Heather Myles (born 1963) is a country singer. Her honky tonk singing is in the Bakersfield sound-style and has been likened by many to that of Dwight Yoakam. She has had her songs featured in a major feature film and has performed with some of the country greats. Building a dedicated following of fans in the US and Europe, Heather seems to have succeeded in spite of disdain from Nashville and the major record labels. "You Will Love Me One Day" features on the film Transamerica
She was born in Riverside, California, where her parents bred and trained horses for racing. |
 |
Myles has released five albums as of May 2007 - including two on HighTone Records, and two on Rounder. While not a Top-40 country star in the contemporary Nashville mode, she has had considerable influence on the larger country-western music sphere due to her stubborn adherence to traditional country music. Through near-constant touring in the 1990s and early 2000s, she has built up a small but loyal following that appreciates her throw-back style and refusal to compromise her vision of what country music should be.
As with most critically acclaimed country music, Heather Myles' songs are rarely heard on mainstream country radio. These days, when a magnifying glass is almost mandatory for anyone trying to find the smallest speck of country music anywhere on a CD that ought to account for something. Fortunately, that problem never arises with Heather's "Sweet Talk and Good Lies." Her straightforward country roots hit you square between the eyes from the first to the last track.
Not since the glory days of country, when Loretta and Tammy could easily be found on the airwaves, has there been a finer example of a female country singing artist. Heather twangs, rocks and croons in all the right places. There's no saccharine sweet, overly glossed sentiments here.
Sweet Talk and Good Lies follows up Heather's 1998 hardcore country release "Highways and Honky Tonks." With the refreshing candor of Loretta, the understated class of Tammy Wynette and the voice of a hillbilly angel, Heather Myles gets straight to the nuts and bolts of what a good country song should be. Real life. If you're listening Nashville: demographically speaking, there are more than a few of the female species that are tired of "perfect love songs." Penning all but two of thirteen tunes on the album, Heather repeatedly demonstrates she's in touch with what country music fans have been longing for.

Lee Forster Tour Going Well
Just wanted to say Hello and let you know what we have been up to out here on the Track!
I am excited to say that my latest single “The Good Tones” has shot to Number 6 on the Top 30 Country Charts. There is a lot of great songs out at the moment and I feel honoured to have one in the top ten. It is a great fun radio song and features the Singing Truckie “Travis Sinclair”. Huge thanks to all the radio stations, who have been playing “the Good Tones”. Also thanks to the many I have done interviews with. I am |
 |
looking forward to the interviews I have coming up. It’s an honor to sing this song with Travis and I can’t wait to see it go higher up the chart.
If you'd like to have a yack on air about “the Good Tones” or my latest album “Keep Safe on the Track”, email me lee@leeforster.com.au or get in touch with Kaz 0418 614 359 or karen@redrebelmusic.com
My previous single “1,000 Headlights” has been chosen as a track on the latest Bundy Country Compilation. This album sells everywhere. I have seen it in every roadhouse I have been in to over the past month. I feel very chuffed to be on this album with some of the hottest country acts from around the world. Grab yaself a copy.
Our Country Rock tour has been going awesomely. We are about half way now and are in the Pilbara region of WA. The tour has just clicked over 10,000ks from when we started back in Victoria. The Ford Territory which is 15 months old has just clicked over 140,000ks. The most we have paid for petrol was $2.17 per litre. And the city
people complain about fuel prices. Hehe
However, it has been awesome to see some of this great country of ours. We have performed at Ayers Rock, Alice Springs, The beautiful Elquestro Station, home of the famous pink diamonds, Argyle Diamond Mine site, the Darwin BNS Ball, the Kimberley Diamond mine site, Derby, Daley Waters Pub, Kakadu and the Kununurra Rodeo. There have been many highlights. One of the biggest thrills was singing the National Anthem to help open the Royal Darwin Show. With Wayne Campbell cracking out the tune on his whips and just my acoustic guitar and me, it was an awesome feeling to perform our Country’s Anthem in front of the Mayor of Darwin and around 3,000 people. Everyone everywhere has been so friendly and it’s a great feeling when they ask you to come back
again. We still have about 4 weeks to go with shows in Perth, Newman, Leonora, Kalgoorlie, Coolgardie and the Newdegate field Days.
Also during this busy tour schedule, the band and I will be flying from Western Australia to QLD to perform at the Gympie Muster for the first time. I can’t wait for that. We are playing in the Tavern and Crowbar venues. Being my first time I will be getting into it boots n all. Bring on the music, rain and dust. It will be awesome.
Lastly our new merchandise from www.allthingscountry.com.au has been selling well. We have polo shirts, bluey and pinky singlets, stubby coolers and key rings. Don’t Forget my Album “Keep Safe on the Track”.
You can get this from most cd shops around Australia. If they don’t have it they can order it from One Stop Country.
It has been awesome to meet so many new friends and catch up with the old ones. I look forward to seeing you on the track somewhere soon.
Keep Safe on The Track,
Lee

Jetty Road Are Back

Jetty Road are back from a successful tour to Nashville and Canada with all guns blazing!
After almost two months in North America, we played many shows, met some amazing people and had the time of our lives doing it! Some of the people we met during our travels included Trace Atkins, Lonestar, Emerson Drive (pictured below), Keith Anderson, Jessie Farrell and Whiskey Falls.
From playing on Breakfast TV in Canada, to singing the national anthem at the baseball, and hanging out with the boys from Lonestar, it was definitively a trip we will never forget!
One of the biggest highlights of the trip was our Main Stage performance at Dauphin Countryfest. We had an absolute ball and felt very honored to be representing Australia; it turned out to be an amazing experience with the reaction to our show overwhelmingly positive.
And the biggest laugh? The amount of people who loved our 'sophisticated' Aussie accents?!!
2008 Southern Stars
Australian Independent Country Music Awards
Since returning to Australia, we have been notified of our finalist berth in the 2008 Southern Stars - Australian Independent Country Music Awards for Best Group / Duo. This is our first nomination in these awards and we are honored to be amongst the great company of fellow finalists Carter & Carter, Stuie and Camille and Jonahs Road.
Good Times
Not only was this Alan Jackson song the theme song of our Nth American trip (with major airplay right across the continent) but it is also the name of our new single, to be released to radio in October from our new upcoming album.
We all agree, there must have been something in the water recently because with Alan Jackson’s ‘Good Time’, Lee Forster and Travis Sinclair’s ‘Good Tones’ and Amber Lawrence’s hit ‘Good Girls’ all being released around the same time, there’s no other way to explain it!
‘Good Times’ will be the first single from our new album ‘Life at a Million Miles’ to be released in early 2009.
*For more information and photos, please let us know and you’ll be emailed a copy of the full newsletter.
Cheers

Helpers Charity Lee
Kernaghan , were given.
There was a concert which Lee kernaghan (Australian of the Year) headlined and his management asked Anthony Classen to be the support act along with Graham Rodgers and other fellow country music artists.
"We were thrilled to be asked, as it was a great opportunity to sit and talk with Lee as well as performing for a worthy cause" said Anthony. Proceeds of album sales on the day went toward the Aussie Helpers Charity.
It also provided Anthony with a great opportunity to officially release his 3rd single from his album (Wound Up Here produced by Stuie French), The Victorian / National Music award nominated heritage song Take A Chance which is loosely based on the great Henry Lawson poem Taking His Chance.
All this just 10 days out from the largest outdoor music festival in Australia The Gympie Muster where Anthony and his band will be performing.
