"Pooley" Plants A Commemorative Tree
Roll Of Renown inductee Reg Poole OAM recently dropped into the famous
Howdy's Bar in Tamworth to plant a tree to mark the 30th anniversary of the recording of his land mark album "Goin Rodeoin'.
The all Australian rodeo album was the first of its kind and was also the first release for Eric Watson's newly formed Selection Record label. It was recorded in August 1978 at the new Hadley Recording Studio at Calala.
The songs were written by top writers including Eric Watson, Tom Mcivor, Joe Daley, Johhny Chester and of course Reg himself. Howdy also had one of his songs included, with his tribute to the pick up men of Aussie rodeo "Heroes of the Circuit".
Pooley planted his tree next to where other rodeo legends Brian Young and Ted Hintz have also planted trees. |

Jammo In Sympathy With The Truckies
Jammo wishes to advise that he & Alisha won't be going down south or to Tassie this year. However they will be touring in February after the Bungendore Festival.
They will be doing a tour of Outback Queensland in the middle of October with Reg and Dot Poole and Alisha and the new “Star Of Our Show” Caitlyn Jane, starting at the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba on the12th Oct at 2.00pm. Rachel Richards will also be on that show. |
 |
“Jammo” says we should be looking after our Drivers and Owner Drivers, and I think the lyrics below would seem to proove to that.
''Truckies Of Australia.''
Keith Jamieson July 2008
Oh the truckies of Australia
Are about to make a stand
And they'll bring to a halt
All the trucks of this land
The folk that cart our food
And all necessities at hand
Are being brought to their knees
While others profit and expand
No matter what they're haulin'
Or the name there on the door
Some are goin' down the chute
As fuel prices soar and soar
I know that we'll be buggered
If they never turn a wheel
They're the backbone of Australia
And I know the way they feel
Chorus
Here's to the truckies
As they stop and take a stand
At least you've got the guts Mate
And you wear a special brand
They try and kill the little bloke
And send them to the wall
With freight rates , fuel and rego
While the big blokes have a ball
So when the trucks are rollin'
Down our highways day and night
Truckin' north south, east and west
It's a pretty awesome sight
But when those wheels stop turnin'
Only then you'll understand
They're the backbone of australia
And they carry this old land
Chorus
Here's to the truckies
As they stop and take a stand
At least you've got the guts mate
And you wear a special brand
They try and kill the little bloke
And send them to the wall
With freight rates , fuel and rego
While the big blokes have a ball
Tag
So when those wheels stop turnin'
Only then you'll understand
They're the backbone of Australia
And they carry this old land. |

South Coast Tour For Dianne Lindsay

Dianne Lindsay has been very busy the past few months including a couple of trips to Tamworth for Hats Off and to Lindsay Butler Studios to record a single that will be included in the LBS Collection and NFS 124.
One of Dianne’s recent highlights was a south coast tour along with special guest, Jay Podger from Cooma. Dianne was accompanied by lead guitarist Peter Simpson and bass player, Marcus Greene. Also along on the tour was Jay’s wife, Corinna and baby Blaze. The tour was a complete success with the shows very well attended and the format of the shows proved very entertaining and at times Dianne found the audience wouldn’t let them end the show. There was lots of fun and good, traditional style country music that was enhanced by the atmosphere of some of the old country halls. The Queanbeyan show was a fund raiser for the Eden-Monaro Cancer Support Group and Dianne was pleased that it raised a substantial amount for the group.
Dianne has a very busy schedule for the rest of the year with several interstate trips to Festivals and shows.

2008 CMAA College Graduate is celebrating the release of her debut single recorded on the Central Coast with award winning producer Rod McCormack at the realm.
|
 |
The Newcastle youngster one of 22 to attend this year’s prestigious college of music in Tamworth wanted to develop her songwriting and pick up some stage performance tips. ‘So I could put it into practice to formulate my own style’ she says.
As part of the package Kaylah Anne got to live on campus at Calrossy in Tamworth and fine tune her craft under expert guidance from tutors Merelyn Carter Mike McClellan Jim Haynes and Travis Collins.
Fast pace by six months and leaving audiences wanting more at the Graduate Concert in January Kaylah Anne delivers her first single End of the Ride.
Check out www.myspace.com/kaylahannemusic for a track preview.
Rising star Kaylah Anne is building a strong reputation around the Newcastle and Hunter Valley area. A regular performer at many venues like Hexham Bowling Club, Kaylah has had outstanding success in the past 12 month with numerous talent quest wins, and in January 2008 graduated from the Australian College of Country Music.
Her original songs have already been played on Newcastle’s 105.3 NEW FM, 100.9 Port Stephens FM, Tamworth’s’ 100.5 FM and 2TM, but now Kaylah Anne is making another step up the ladder.
Her forthcoming EP has been produced by the award-winning Rod McCormack and the first single, written by Kaylah Anne, is a great introduction for Australia to this talented singer/songwriter. Pure country vocals and a strong hooky song make for an excellent entrée to the EP.

The Robertson Brothers Debut
Top 20 On Aria Country Charts
Many know the Robertson Brothers as the distinctive vocal sound on the theme for the hit TV soapie ‘Home & Away’. Or maybe it’s via their regular satirical song contributions for the #1 rating 2GB weekend NRL Continuous Call Team radio program. Either way, the fact is the Robertson Brothers just happen to be one of the most talented and most respected vocal groups Australia has ever produced. |
 |
DestraMusic is proud to announce the release of their latest album ‘Flight 1974’ (CAT# CDR1137). The Robertson Brothers arrived in the freezing cold of Nashville, Tennessee on January 22nd to start month long preparations for the recording of their first new studio album in over 4 years. Their new album Flight 1974 was recorded at Nashville’s prestigious Dark Horse Studios and produced by the Brothers friend and respected US songwriter/ producer Bobby .E. Boyd. Bobby recently co-wrote a #1 hit for the US group Rascal Flatts and has also co-written several tracks on the boy’s new album.
With 11 Mo and ACE Awards, along with 2x ARIA Nominations the Robertson Brothers are now undisputedly the Australian entertainment industry’s #1 Vocal Trio. In 2005 they were asked by the Australian Idol producers to take on the role as the backing vocalists for the TV series and consequently featured on Shannon Noll’s #1 debut album. They have performed the National Anthem at a Swans AFL game before a crowd of 35,000 and at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony to an incredible audience of 80,000 people.
“The Language of Heaven” is the first radio single from the album and is already causing a storm having been picked up by MIX 106.5FM.

Hope You Are Enjoying My New Single John Williamson
'Drink A Little Love' is John Williamson's 'welcome' mat to his forthcoming new album, 'Hillbilly Road', an album inspired by his mountain home, Springbrook.
“Springbrook is going back to paradise,” he says. “The way of life I love |
 |
is chopping wood, lighting the fire, discovering the bush, making things, building stone walls. Going back to being a kid again, going back to being a bush person again.”
In ‘Drink A Little Love' he says of his mountain home:
“Don’t expect too much, it’s humble and it’s warm
You won’t find it in a ‘home’ magazine
But ten million dollars wouldn’t buy the peace
For the best valley view you’ve ever seen.”

A Very Big Gig
John Mellencamp…The Doobie Brothers… Chicago…Emmylou Harris
Members of Midnight Oil...…’Daddy Cool’ Ross Wilson... The Atlantics
Paul McDermott… Flacco…Wendy Harmer and more
at The Basement, Sydney
giving their support to Wayne Goodwin and the Leukaemia Foundation
Australia and America’s leading rock musicians are showing their support to one of Australia’s finest session violinists, Wayne Goodwin, who has been debilitated physically and financially by non-hodgkins lymphoma in June 2007 with a relapse of the disease to his spinal fluid in October 2007. Wayne Goodwin discovered the aggressive cancer after it was triggered by tick bites whilst living on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Much loved by the artists he has worked with during his illustrious career including: Crosby, Stills and Nash; Tony Bennett; INXS; Midnight Oil and Sting, Wayne’s talent has prompted his friends and music legends The Doobie Brothers, Graham Nash, Chicago, Emmylou Harris, Jimmy Buffet and John Mellencamp to donate collectable memorabilia to help raise funds for him and The Leukaemia Foundation at ‘A VERY BIG GIG’ on Sunday night August 3rd at Sydney’s landmark live music venue The Basement.
The Basement has provided their venue and services free to bring together Australia’s leading music and comedic talent including: Ebb Tide and the Shorebreakers (Midnight Oil members Jim Moginie, Rob Hirst, Martin Rotsey), ‘Daddy Cool’ Ross Wilson, Ian Cooper, Dog Trumpet, The Atlantics, Good News Week’s Paul McDermott, Flacco and The Sandman, who have all worked closely with Wayne. The Basement gives everyone the chance to experience this fabulous line-up in an intimate and lively atmosphere.
Wendy Harmer will be auctioneering items including John Mellencamp’s autographed Fender Acoustic Guitar; a Fender autographed by the Doobie Bros and Chicago, framed T-Shirts signed by The Doobie Bros, Gibson Guitar Custom jacket signed by Emmylou Harris; rare X-Files TV Show memorabilia; signed cookbooks from celebrity chefs Gordon Ramsay, Kylie Kwong, Tobie Puttock and Matt Skinner, accommodation packages at Establishment Hotel in Sydney and Jonah’s in Whale Beach, a Sony Bravia TV plus lots more.
Each year in Australia around 4300* people are diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma which has also affected well known Australians such as Delta Goodrem, making it the fifth most common cancer in Australia. In some cases people don't have any troubling symptoms and the disease is picked up during a routine chest x-ray. In Wayne’s case, the ongoing effect of the tick bites signaled trouble. Following breakthrough stem-cell replacement therapy, and the support of his friends and family, Wayne is in remission and making a slow comeback.
The Leukaemia Foundation will provide the opportunity to bid for the collectable items online for anyone who can’t be there on the night. Guitars and memorabillia being brought to Sydney express courtesy of World Courier who specialise in time critical transportation.
‘A Very Big Gig’ Tickets through The Basement www.thebasement.com.au or at the door. Price: $50 Time: 5pm-10pm. Date: Sunday August 3rd Venue: The Basement 26 Reiby Place, Sydney.
To speak to Midnight Oil’s Jim Mogine, Flacco, Dog Trumpet’s Peter O’Doherty, Mary Finkelsen and Eagles Angels or Leukaemia Foundation’s Fiona Pearce please contact Nicole Helich from MINT PR on 02 9918 5833 or call 0410 517 884. Photos are also available of bands signing the memorabilia.

And then there's..........
An open fire, a good dinner and a low flying rubber chicken ... surely is what comes to all our minds when we think of The Clarendon Guesthouse in Katoomba.
Live To Air - 702 ABC Sydney :
Hear the band live in the ABC studio on Thursday 31 July, between 1 and 2pm on James Valentine's show.
Greetings everyone,
A special hello to all of your who are new to the Junk Mail list following the big nights at The Stag, The Shack and The Harp. (This sounds like the opening line of an Irish joke...)
There are just two more shows in the tour. Both in beautiful, warm rooms with hearty meals and good friends. The wonderful Liz Frencham and staunch Robbie Long will again be warming the stages in preparation for much chaos thereafter.
In other news, the Junk Band has just been invited to be part of Cygnet Folk Festival Tasmania in January 2009.
Look out for an interview with Mic in next week's edition of "The Brag" magazine Sydney street press).
Hope to see you on the weekend,
