Entertaining In Longreach

Following a slow start to the tourist season things here in Longreach and in particular Discovery Holiday Park Longreach (formerly The Gunnadoo) are in full swing.

Arriving in mid April country music artists Brooks and Magee (Denise Brooks and Bob Magee) have now settled into a performance schedule which consists of 4 shows per week in the Woolshed, the Park’s very own dining and entertainment facility.

Denise Brooks

The shows which commence at 7.00pm each Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are a mix of Australian Bush Ballads and Contemporary Country music together with some of the great Country Classics thrown in and are a huge success with the very appreciative audiences each show.

Brooks and Magee have also taken the opportunity to showcase their talents to a wider audience performing at The Stockman’s Hall Of Fame, the Longreach Show and the local RSL Club.

The duo will be in Longreach to the end of the tourist season in September.

Hi Country Music Friends

Finally I have moved into our new home. A very long drawn out six weeks but it was worth the wait as we have purchased a lovely home and we moved in last Tuesday the 8th July.

I have been in touch with TTT 103.9 here in Townsville and I have already presented 4 hours of country so I am back into the swing of things.

Barry Cannon

Craig Giles Update

2008 got off to a hectic start for the ever popular entertainer, Craig Giles. Now half way through the year and nothings changed. I think that Craig takes after his distant relation, the explorer Ernest Giles. There are many similarities such as their quiet natures, (unless Craig is on stage), and their love of travelling to new places. A little trivia that you may already know, Ernest was the first white man to see Ayres Rock.

Craig’s “Dance Party”, “Tribute Shows” and “One Man Shows” are all going extremely well. Each showcases Craig’s versatility and professional know how. Craig and Roz put a lot of thought and effort into each and every show and it pays off with return bookings every time.

CraigGiles

Craig & Roz have just returned from their annual seven weeks Northern Tour and once again it was an outstanding success. There were many and varied shows over the seven weeks. Already requests for return performances are rolling in plus some new venues and agents that are eager to book him for his 2009 tour. Roz will have to do a lot of juggling to fit any more shows into Craig’s already packed schedule.

Latest Album: “Heart Of Australia” CD $25.
This is Craig’s twelfth album and is already proving to be one of his most popular to date.

There are only a few “Ghost On The Highway” and “This Ones For You” albums left so if you don’t have one in your collection avoid disappointment and grab one soon. $22 each + 5 p / h. All cheques and money orders to be made payable to C & R Giles please.

Work has started on Craig’s 3rd DVD and also another album.

Looking Ahead: Here are some 2008 shows that you may want advance notice about.
1st & 2nd November..Leeton CM Festival, NSW
8th November .. Wagga Commercial Club, NSW for the 2008 ACRA Awards.
29th November .. Griffith CM Muster, NSW

If you require further information on any of the above, please contact Roz at Big River Entertainment ph: 0408 597307 or email craigile@cobram.net.au
