From Clelia’s Garden To Europe’s #1 Spot
Clelia Adams’ Wildflowers is the most played single on European radio this week and has charted at #2 in the Netherlands, #2 in Denmark, #1 in Belgium and #2 in Austria.
You could say the title track from Clelia’s new album is “spreading like wildflowers” right around Europe,
This is confirmed by the latest survey (#185) in the ECMA airplay list of the 50 most played songs in the past three weeks, with Wildflowers sitting at the top spot. Wildflowers entered the mainstream ECMA chart at #72 with a bullet.
“My music has always been very well received in European countries, but I’m just blown away by this reception to Wildflowers. It’s very gratifying,” Clelia said.
Not only is the single doing great things for Clelia in Europe, it’s being recognised at home and is currently sitting at #21 on the Country Tracks Top 30, and has been picked up on playlists right around the country.
In the Northern Territory Songwriting Competition, Wildflowers is in the top five finalists of the traditional song category, which has delighted Clelia no end. |

|
“I’m a late bloomer in the songwriting department, so I’m absolutely thrilled to see my work acknowleged like this,” she said.
Her busy gigging schedule along the NSW North Coast has also confirmed the popularity of the new songs, and album sales have reflected this trend.
The track was inspired by the abundance of wildflowers around Clelia’s Mullumbimby property, which she was photographing for the cover of her album.
“After I went inside, the words just fell out,” Clelia said. “I drew from that deep well where the Carter Family lives within my musical soul, to come up with that blend of traditional and modern music.I couldn’t be happier with the results.”

Peter Pratt & Ken (Chainsaw) Lindsay

Peter Pratt has been doing a small tour and was in Wauchope last Friday night, where he teamed up with well known local identity Ken (Chainsaw) Lindsay.
The Wauchope Country Club was the venue and if you weren’t there you missed a great Bush Ballad show. To add a little variety Ally Jane sang a few songs, and local Bush Poet Rod Worthing recited a couple of poems.
We were also graced with a visit by Bush Poet Dawn de Ramirez from Bomaderry. She just happened to be in the area on holiday – heard about the concert & came along.

Matt Manning - Borderline
I would like to introduce to you my third CD titled "Borderline" which I released on 5th April at Oracles of the Bush in Tenterfield. It has 12 tracks about trucking, bush ballads, drinking and 1 instrumental.
Produced in Sydney by Stuie French - it features myself and Stuie on guitars, plus some of Australia's best pickers - Michel Rose (steel guitar), |
 |
Chris Haigh ( bass), Mick Albeck ( Fiddle) Stuie (Dobro), Bradley Bergen (Drums) with Camille Te Nahu & Stuie -backing vocals.
The album has kept the Bush Ballad tradition plus a couple of different tracks for me to explore a few new roads.
I have co-written 1 song with Ian Quinn - "My Bulldog Loves Bitumen" and have recorded a duet with Mike McClellan of his hit "Song and Dance Man".
"Mudcarter Blues" eventuated after a conversation with Keith Jamieson about my first truck driving job in an old Volvo tipper.
There are three new songs penned by Chris Pritchard "What Is Wrong With That" - "Bush Girl" & "Grew Up Hard and Grew Up Quick" - these songs reflect the life of people working in the bush.
There are 2 songs previously recorded by Slim Dusty - " Old Bush Mates Of Mine" & " Highway One".
"Some Day I'll Sober Up" is the drinking song and a version of the Buck Owens song "It Takes People Like You" is dedicated to each and everyone who has played some part in my music career this far.
John O'Dea has penned a song "The Saddle" that will touch many people who have lived on the land.
The Instrumental with Stuie is one previously recorded by Chet Atkins titled "Prissy" and it has and easy listening style for all to enjoy. The album offers a variety of songs for everyone to enjoy.

Country Music Artist Korey Livy Flying On The Wings Of An Angel.

From his home town Albury NSW to Broome, Tennant Creek, Sydney and everywhere in between, Korey Livy is flying around Australia in a single engine aeroplane, hand built by his local parish Catholic priest, fuelled on the smell of an oily rag for the ‘Fly-Away-To-Heaven’ initiative.
Enterprising Korey Livy is no stranger to ‘big ideas’, his appearance as Australian Idol contestant in 2006 being only one of many. However this time round Korey is flying on charitable spirit and generosity with a team of passionate fundraisers, heaven bent on making a difference and raising $1,000,000 for East Timorese projects in dire need of financial support.
The 'Fly-Away-to-Heaven' initiative was founded by Father John Fowles CCS, the parish priest at the Thurgoona, NSW who recongnised Korey's energy and passion for 'lending a hand'. Initially Korey was invited to lend support to fellow songwriter, Vanessa Selwyn. With the help of veteran songwriter and producer Roger Corbett the three were inspired to write a song, 'Earth Angels Care'.
From May 3rd until June 2nd, Korey and the ‘Fly-Away-To-Heaven’ crew till touchdown in over thirty three towns and cities all around Australia – performing ‘Earth Angels Care’ and songs from Korey’s brand new country music album ‘That’s The Way We Do It Round Here’, including his current single ‘Give It Up And Put It Down’.
The pinnacle of the trip, will be a performance at World Youth Day in Sydney to an expected 200,000 people.

Lee, Troy and Tania take the "Winners" Concert to Lismore
Country music fans will be in for a rare treat this May when the Northern Rivers town of Lismore hosts three of the biggest names in Australian country music – Lee Kernaghan, Troy Cassar-Daley and Tania Kernaghan together in one show.
After the highly successful Winners tour in 2007 the Country Music Association of Australia and Artist Network take winners from the Country Music Awards of Australia on the road again to a select number of locations throughout New South Wales.
For Lee Kernaghan 2008 is certainly a year worth celebrating. Not quite 24 hours after being named Australian of Year, in front of 5,000 fans Lee collected three Golden Guitar trophies in the 36th CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia for his bush charity anthem Spirit of the Bush.
That same night Troy Cassar-Daley was almost reduced to tears when he was awarded the highly coveted Male Artist of the Year Golden Guitar trophy for Everything's Going to be Alright from the highly success album of the same name.
For Tania, 2007 and 2008 have been big years, with her hit, Life Don't Get Much Better Than This, spending a total of 19 weeks in the Country Top 30 Singles Chart. Combine this recording success with a flourishing run as co-host of the top rating Channel 9 program, "Discover Downunder" and Tania has hardly had time to stand still. Her latest release with Stephen Rowe Let's Fall In Love Again is at radio now.
All three artists are "Winners" at the annual CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia, Lee with 27 Golden Guitars, Troy with 14 and Tania holds 4, will ensure a great night out on Thursday 15th May at the Lismore Workers Club at 8pm. The Mateki's
Paul Mateki's biography.
Paul and Helen Mateki are two of the most respected Independent artists in the world today! Before Paul fell in love with and married Helen, he worked relentlessly for 10 years, honing his songwriting skills, vocal |
 |
abilities, becoming a master on the guitar, and a prolific studio producer of all the songs he's sessioned to include on CDs.
Paul released 5 dynamic CD's in those early 10 years... the latest one in 2003 with his wonderfully talented wife Helen.
He has recieved untold Independent awards in the European music industry, including ECMA "Independent Album of the Year" 1998 ("Across the Miles," which spent a record-breaking 85 weeks in the ECMA Top 40 Album Chart) along with numerous #1 hits on the European Charts. He is also a valued member of the "Colorado International Country Music Hall of Fame" in the U.S.A.
Paul has shared the stage with and opened for many well known artists, including Lyle Lovett, Gene Watson, Tommy Cash, Norma Jean, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Ernie Ashworth, just to name a few. He has also recorded 3 duets with his good friend Ernie Ashworth, of Grand Ole Opry fame, as well as an appearance with Helen and Ernie on the "Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree".
Paul has toured Europe 10 times and Australia twice, with ever-increasing chart success, gaining cherished and solid fan support wherever he goes. With the recent inclusion of his talented wife, Helen, in the act, the popularity of their "duo" endeavors and seamless harmonies has caught the ears of DJs and fans throughout the world, keeping them continually high on daily playlists and chart activity.
Known worldwide now as "THE MATEKI's", and recent recipients of the European CMA "Duo of the Year" Awards 2005, Paul and Helen are currently working on fresh, new material for their eagerly anticipated next CD. It's obvious that European DJs and fans are in for a real surprise and treat from this very talented Texas U.S.A. duo.
Helen Mateki's biography.
Helen was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany. Being taught in a Catholic school, she learned singing and found her love in harmonizing. At age fourteen, Helen and her family emigrated to Fort Worth, Texas where she finished her schooling. Knowing that she nor her sister and five brothers spoke English during that summer, they quickly had to learn that language before beginning their first school year in America.
Helen's musical background in high school was playing cello and learning how to read music, and her dream at one time was to become a Cello player. A few years later English became Helen's very serious study. Learning that her hunger was to be a writer and she began writing poems and short stories. With several poems published, she didn't do much with her writing. She only had time to work and raise a child after the loss of her first husband. After her son was old enough, she again continued with her writing, but only as a hobby. Now with eighty (80) poems written and several published, she put them in a book called "Thoughts". In 1996, Paul Mateki came into her life, she loved his singing style, loved his song writing, and five years later they married. Now she writes some songs with him, harmonizes wonderfully and in time their voices grew together as one. After singing together for more than a year, the CD "Texasville" started taking shape and was recorded in 2001. Paul invited Helen to sing harmonies on two songs: "Mighty Fine Dog", and "Time Is Short". In November 2002, Paul and Helen had their first #1 hit together in Europe on the "European Media Services Most Popular Chart" with the Renie Peterson song "We've Got A Love". 2003 brought out the first collaboration of Paul and Helen with their new CD, "Something To Sing About". Helen's fine angelic harmonies complement Paul's singing so much, that in July 2003, their first #1 from the CD "When The River Runs Dry" was on top of the European CMA Charts. Helen's first attempt at singing lead vocal on "Please Don't Let Me Let You Go", written by their good friend and songwriter, Renie Peterson, put this song also at #1 on the ECMA Top 100.
Helen can be seen accompanying Paul around Texas singing harmonies and an occasional lead vocal. As of this writing Helen is teaching herself to play bass. |
