Kerry Summerfield - Bio
My name is Kerry Summerfield and I live in Young, NSW, where Aussie country music is very popular with our local community radio station, 2YYY FM 92.3, playing it all the time.
I have achieved a life time musical goal to record a self-funded CD and it is titled ‘Making Plans’. It was produced by Grant Luhrs at Flying Fox Studios, Wagga Wagga, NSW. There are 12 tracks on the CD.
I perform at functions with the Canola Community Music Club, the Tumut Country Music Club, Parkes Country Music Club and the Country Music Association of Canberra and at local venues in the Young district including the Senior Citizens Club, the Calare Tavern in Bendick Murrell and the Yass Soldiers Club. One of the highlights of 2005 was performing as an invited guest of the Canola Country Music Club at the Jugiong Vintage Car Club Rally which proved to be a tremendous success.
My recent achievements are:
- Finalist in 2005 ACTS at the 2PK Parkes Country Music Spectacular.
- An overall win in the busking competition at the 2006 Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival with my daughters, Michelle and Trudi and my 6 year old grandson, Triston.
- Senior Overall Winner of the Forbes Country Music Club Talent Quest held in May 2006.
- Qualified for 2006 NSW & ACT Champions Showcase
- Won Senior Vocal at Illabo Stampede 2007
- Won Senior Female Vocal, Senior Gospel and Senior Australian at Forbes Talent Quest 2007
- Senior Overall winner at Forbes Talent Quest 2007
- 2nd Female Vocal and 2nd Senior Australian at Orana Country Music Club Talent Quest 2007 at Dubbo.
- Qualified for 2007 NSW & ACT Champions Showcase to be held later this year.
Tamworth 2007 was fantastic. We busked outside Corporate Express and had a great time. We met Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey, Felicity and Tim Bailey from Channel 10 weather.
As part of a great team, we recently held a fund raiser for Mackenzie Argeat, a baby who had a successful liver transplant before Christmas, and raised $5,000. Which is great for a small country town.
I am also performing at ‘Baby Grace’ fundraising concert on April 15 with Owen Blundell, the organiser. Baby Grace is just 6 months old and has coronal synostosis, which means a major operation and lots of money.
I am heading off this weekend to the Grenfell and the Henry Lawson Festival of Arts where there is busking in the main street this Saturday June 9. My family sing with me, my daughters, Michelle Severs and Trudi Summerfield and my 6 year old grandson, Triston Severs (Michelle’s son).
It is my intention to continue to perform at every opportunity as I love to entertain and I intend to record a second CD in the near future.
