Grand Junction

This is a unique Cd. Unique because this is the first recording that Dave, Lance, Alan, John & Doug have made together since 1981.

That is a 27 year break that must be close to a world record in the music industry.

The boys hope you enjoy the music that they have created.

Grand Junction - Bio

Twenty seven years on, former members of award winning band Grand Junction - Dave Tyne, Lance Clarke, Doug Rowe, Alan Stewart and John Fraser are back together and have recorded a new CD and returned to Tamworth for the Country Music Festival in January 2009.

Apart from pursuing other interests and raising families etc, each has continued to perform and record individually or with other bands over the intervening years.

In the early seventies they met Smoky Dawson, who invited them to perform with him and his horse Flash on Sundays, entertaining mums and dads and their children out at his ranch.

The band went on to appear with Smoky on Channel 9’s Super Flying Fun Show, recording many episodes over a two year period.

It was due to Smoky’s insistence that the group entered the CMAA talent Quest in Tamworth in 1979, taking out first prize for a performance of their own composition “Hello World”. Later the same year, they won the first Starmaker Quest followed by the Golden Guitar in 1981 for Best Vocal Group, with the song Married Women. Just prior to the band calling it a day, they won the MO Award for Best Country Group.

The band packed a lot into the short time they were together appearing on many variety television shows, including Don Lane Show, Conway Country, Sounds Unlimited, Simon Townsend’s Wonder World, Mike Walsh, etc, and found time to record three albums, one with Smoky Dawson, and a number of radio singles.

They toured extensively and appeared with many local & international artists including Frank Ifield, Tex Morton, Buster Noble, Johnny Cash, Roger Miller, Leon Russell, the Amazing Rhythm Aces and many more.

Grand Junction had their own unique sound and after an absence of 27 years, it all fell back into place after their first rehearsal in Sydney recently.

The band reunion at the Tamworth Festival went extreamly well at all five venues including their appearance on Star Trec with the song Married Women.

It was great to see so many former Grand Junction fans, and roadies who worked for us in previous years, turn up at the Southgate Inn, where the band performed for two nights.

We now have copies of the new album and copies of the cd can be purchased at this time from Inharmony Music in Kempsey NSW, The St Mary's Sound Centre in Sydney, and the Country Music Store in Brisbane as well as Joy’s Music World

The single track entitled The Turnback Boys is due for release to radio on NFS from Monday 3rd February, followed by a DVD of the song.  The DVD of the show s to be released sometime this year.
