Connie Kis Andersen - Bio
Named Best Western Australian Country Music Female Vocalist at the 2006 Boyup Brook Country Music Festival in W.A., Danish born Connie Kis migrated with her family to Australia when she was two years old.
She began learning the banjo-mandolin at the age of eight and by the time she was eleven years old, Connie Kis was performing at local town hall concerts and on guest spots with Australian Country Music legend, Slim Dusty when his travelling show came to her then home town of Bourke in NSW.
After gaining a degree in both Economics and Psychology from the University of NSW and working in Sydney in the field of Special Education for two years, Connie Kis moved to Perth, W.A.
At the same time she began pursuing a profession in her first love, music.
She performed as the lead singer in several bands, trios and duos, the most current of which are pop cover duo, Kis'n Tel and acoustic original country duo, A.K.A.Kis.
Her band; 'The Hired Guns' usually comes together to showcase the original country songs from her releases, Gone Wishin and Once Again.
During the earlier period she also recorded her own material in Jakarta and performed it on Asian TV for the English Hour show. Her music was subsequently licensed to the station's label for use with Indonesia's #1 performing artist.
This lady’s headline and special guest musical performances have seen her honoured to be the support act for Don McLean at the Burswood Theatre on his 2004 tour to Perth, taken her to numerous festivals in European countries... two recording sessions and a short tour in the USA performances at CMA's Music Festival in Nashville TN, with a special invitation to return.
PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Since 1998, when her focus had turned to a full-time career in music Connie Kis:
* Has established through her business Kismana Music, a co-operative of independent artists namely the Kismana Ko-Op. with music for promotion and sale through the Internet,
* Served time as Board member, Vice President and President of the West Australian Music Industry Association (WAM) 1999 - 2001 inclusively.
* Currently serves as a panellist on the Arts Development Panel and Contemporary Music Panel for ArtsWA for a 3rd 2-year term.
* Currently teaches voice production weekly at TAFE (during school terms) and workshops at UWA Extension.
* Has had material signed to GoldWax Records, an independent record label based in Atlanta, USA.
* Held the acting position of General manager of KULCHA - Multicultural Arts of WA Inc whilst the organisation re-structured - 2004.
* Composed and recorded the ambient backing music for eleven independent talking book releases as well as the score for an independent filmography.
* Recorded Keeping it Simple her debut country E.P. and Gone Wishin' her full length CD.
