Col Millington - Bio
Col Millington was born in Melbourne on the 13th of January, 1949. At the age of eight, Col began his showbusiness career with a song and tapdance routine. Three years later Col was learning the guitar from elder brother Gary Formally, member of "The Crickets" and "The Saxons".
Col went on to learn drums and for some time was the drummer for "The Rondells" and "Bluestone", however Col never put down the guitar and continued developing his talents as a songwriter.
Col's professional song writing career started in 1974 when he met Barry Loftus, whose influence on Col with his lyric writing was just the thing to fire up the young musician. Within two years the pair had written a stack of songs and Col began recording his first album.
The album quickly gained Col national recognition when picked up by Nick Erby. This led to instant television appearances, radio air-play and performances across the country.
Since then Col has recorded 15 Cds covering a wide range of songs, including Country, Pop, Rock, Old time and of course, his own material.
In 30 years this versatile entertainer has gold and silver records to his name, has been a top 5 finalist at Tamworth on several occasions and performed with some of the best (John Farnham, Darly Somers, Johnny Chester, Jade Hurley, Little River Band etc).
Col has also produced and recorded albums for Jean Stafford, Judy Stone, Wayne Horsburgh, Syd Heylen, The Phones and the Australian cast recording of Big River.
