Ken "Chainsaw" Lindsay

Ken "Chainsaw" Lindsay is both a story teller and a singer/song writer. He always has a yarn to tell you but his favourite way of telling a yarn is through the bush ballad.
"Chainsaw" has his popular radio show on Hastings Community Radio 2WAY FM, filled with songs from Australia's finest bush balladeers and country music artists.
He was nicknamed "Chainsaw" because he used to play the Tom McIvor penned song titled Chainsaw, recorded by Reg Poole, almost every time he was on the airwaves.
Ken managed to get national and international air play through a song recorded called "The Night I Saved John Wayne" co-written with John Prosdocimo.

Ken “Chainsaw” Lindsay - Bio

“Chainsaw” was born in Sydney on 3rd October 1952. He served his apprenticeship as a carpenter and moved to the mid north coast of NSW in 1974. He has two daughters, Emma and Jessica. He lives at King Creek, near Wauchope, on his 5 acre farm with wife Mandy.

His love of country music started when he first heard Slim Dusty sing “The Pub With No Beer”. He started playing guitar at ten and wrote his first song at seventeen. After years of playing at parties and amongst friends he entered his first talent quest at age 48. After success at various talent quests and encouragement from family, friends and mentor Rick Aitchison, he has now recorded with LBS studios and ABC and has won two awards at the Stan Coster Memorial Bush Ballad Awards at Bungendore. While he likes most styles of country music, his real love is the Bush Ballad.

“Chainsaw” is also involved in Community FM Radio. For the past 17 years he has presented his popular “Country Trax” program, playing 100% Australian country music on Hastings Community Radio 103.9 FM in Wauchope NSW. He got the nickname “Chainsaw” as he used to play the Tom McIvor penned song titled Chainsaw, recorded by Reg Poole, so often on his radio program.

Chainsaw has just released a new CD recorded at Kross Kut Records on the gold Coast. The CD titled “From Crosscut To Chainsaw” was produced by Lindsay Waddington. The 12 track CD contains 3 brand new compositions, a great version of The Diamantina Drover, a few classics and a song titled Kangabloodyroos adds some humour to the album. The CD is available through Kross Kut Records or direct from Chainsaw’s web site www.kenlindsay.com , or the above address.
