Bob Mildren – Bio
After serving his time in the Navy and then following that up with a University Degree Bob turned to his first love music in 1982 and quickly gained strong support throughout Canberra and surrounding New South Wales major country towns. Over the following years he worked the local club circuit during the week and toured each weekend to major country clubs performing to a wide range of audiences in towns on the South Coast and inland such as Wagga Wagga, Gundagai, Young, Merimbula, Nowra and Goulburn.
In 1987 his work took him to America for three years and during this time he performed on the East Coast and represented Australia in the Bi-centennial celebrations. A number of Americans would remember him for his WAMU Washington DC live radio broadcast of “No 96 to the Snack Bar Please” and the Aussie slang list he handed out to his audiences before each show.
In 1990 he returned to Australia and continued his solo work but also formed the highly popular Canberra band “Bob Mildren and the Good Old Boys”. Bob and the Boys performed regularly at major functions in the Region such as the Normie Rowe Inaugural Vietnam Veterans Concert along with many great stars from the Vietnam era. The band was also a regular pub act at Tamworth Country Music Festival,
Bob arrived in Brisbane in 1997 and quickly became a popular solo act in a number of Brisbane Clubs including the Redlands RSL where he has performed on a regular basis for over 10 years.
Bob retired from the Queensland Government in 2006 and now concentrates on day-time entertainment in the major clubs throughout Brisbane.
