New DVD Comments
Audiences have raved: “There’s no comparison to other shows, this show is the best!”
“He’s just like Johnny, she IS June!”
Now on DVD, the Johnny Cash & June Carter Tribute Show, ‘Walkin’ The Line’, live and unedited, featuring songs to represent the Cash/Carter story over 35 years. Cash’s repertoire has a richness few artists have equaled: murder ballads, love songs, novelty numbers, pop covers and gospel standards. The lyrical relevance, the stories of the “common man’s” life, will be with us always. Cash left a musical legacy which continues to this day.

Alan Bowles & Christine DeRoche - Bio
The Australian Johnny Cash & June Carter Tribute Show ‘Walkin’ The Line’
Alan Bowles makes an excellent Cash. He’s got the dark rugged looks, height and musical and vocal ability to interpret those legendary songs with integrity. Al is a two-time Australian National Harmonica Champion, and he gives the audience a taste of what he can do with a rendition of Amazing Grace and a ’killer’ rendition of Orange Blossom Special. Add the sentiment of their relationship played out through the performance of sweet duets, songs represented in the film, plus a selection of material from the beginning to the end of their careers, and the audience is given an insight into this amazing couple’s real-life history. The appeal of this show - what sets it apart from the rest - is the large part ‘June’ plays. People love Johnny and they are touched by the relationship between the two.
June is played by California-born singer Christina DeRoche. Christina was brought up with the music of both Cash and the Carter Family playing on local radio stations. Chris features on electric autoharp for a duet with Johnny, Far Side Banks Of Jordan, a spiritual message about meeting on ‘the other side’ plus the classical duets recorded over their long history working together with Johnny, and solos June made famous over her years in the industry.
The repertoire chosen to represent the Cash/Carter story over the 35 years of their careers is an emotional journey. To say Johnny Cash songs are great is an understatement. They have a richness and variety that very few artists have equalled. The sheer range of material is staggering: murder ballads, love songs, novelty numbers, pop covers and gospel standards. The Australian Walkin’ The Line show performs these legendary songs with the mean wit and heartbreaking sincerity Cash and Carter delivered to their audiences. The lyrical relevance, the stories of the ‘common man’s life are legendary and will be with us always.
A must see show, the Australian ‘Walkin’ The Line.
