In 1982 I joined the Hastings Country Music Club and started to become even more involved with the music.

In 1990 while my husband continued to operate his trucking business, I fulfilled one of my ambitions and I opened my own Ladies Fashion Shop. Playing my favorite independent country CD’s in-store created a lot of interest with my customers and I was always quick to direct the listeners to where they could purchase their own copy of the CD playing at the time.

In 1996 my husband & I took our first trip to "Poley’s Place" on the Barrington River, and here I learned "what the real world is all about."

We have now spent several years touring with musos, attending festivals throughout a big part of Australia, and promoting the music wherever I get the chance to.

Our travels have taken us to places such as Tamworth, Bungendore, The Snowy Mountains, Eden, The Great Ocean Road, Port Augusta, Darwin, Mt Isa, Cloncurry, Townsville, Queensland Coast, Cairns, the Gulf, Longreach, Toowoomba, Mildura, Port Pirie, and Broken Hill.

This extensive travel led to me writing a book about a lot of our travels, and the comments I received from that gave me confidence to be able to think I might be able to help a little more in the Country Music scene with my on-line news letter.

In 1995 I became a member of 2 Way FM and in 2005 became a Radio presenter (to help promote the industry) and for a time I was a part of the committee, with the job of Publicity Officer.

My involvement in radio has led to many meetings with national and international stars.
One such highlight for me was having coffee at my home with John Rex Reeves and a few of his friends. John Rex is the only singing relative of the world famous Jim Reeves. During the visit I was able to sell a couple of our Australian albums to some of the guests. I guess anyone who has the opportunity to hear Brian Letton wants to buy an album or two though. As a well respected member of the Country Music Community I am now on the judging panel for some of the Independent Artists awards.

With all that in mind, I have decided to go a step further in the promotion of Country Music, and the result is Joy’s Music World.

At Wagga Wagga on the 8th November 2008 during the Tamworth On Parade Concert, I was awarded the ACRA Country Music Industry Award, for excellence in support of the Australian Country Music Industry.
